During my winter hibernating i have been reviewing the star wars trilogy, and from what i have read its odd how closely related the jedi are to the Bene Gesserit , and the Kwisatz Haderach.
Does the force go as far as the Dune Universe?
What do other people think?

Re: Are the Bene Gesserit , Kwisatz Haderach related to the Jedi.
Tue, February 5, 2008 - 10:17 AMI think they are related insofar as they are exclusive and powerful sects which are politically active, ideologically driven, mysterious, and possessed of powers which the average person has no access. But we could also say the same thing about ninjas, the Scarlet Brotherhood (in Gygax's AD&D), Halliburton executives, Amazons, legendary Spartans, the supposed "Red Menace" of the 1950s, etc.
I'm sure Lucas was familiar with the Dune universe, just as he was familiar with the writings of Joseph Campbell. I would say that Lucas was far more influenced by Campbell than Herbert, particularly after having seen the Power of Myth series and reading the Historical Atlas of World Mythology.
